(Slightly off topic, but it's as good as I can get at the moment)

So I have the old versions of DoD and TFC on cd-rom. Does Steam recognize them, is there a way to acquire them and not have to pay the $9.95 for their bloody activation code?

I downloaded the TFC installer from Fileplanet, but it wanted to install a full version of Steam. Boo.

Servers Question [13 Jul 2006|02:15am]

What servers do you all play on?
Why do you play that server?
Do you like FF on or off?
Do you prefer a mature group playing or do you like screwing around?
Do you like when servers run Manimod?
Any other server plug-ins you prefer?

Just curious is why I ask.

I'm posting this message for my sister's husband; Nathan. He plays "Day of Defeat" and is wanting others to play with him. So, if you have that game and want to play, his name on the game is PrivateBatke. He can also be reached via MSN messanger at nebatke@comcast.net

My autoexec file for DOD:Source [23 Oct 2005|01:52am]

My system:
AthlonXP 2400+
1Gb PC3200 (2x 512mb)
GeForce FX5200 128mb

Leaving absolutely everything on default, I get ~10 fps.. 2fps at worst, 25fps at best...

But with the following settings saved in a file called "autoexec.cfg" in my "CFG" folder, I get about 30-50 fps on average.
I hope this helps other people.

Hey all,

I'm new to this community, my name is Brandon and I love Day of Defeat.

I was wondering, how do you all feel about DoD:S? I have thoughts on the game, but I'm too tired to post them now, just curious as to what you all think of it.

Day of Defeat: Source Available September 26 [10 Sep 2005|10:18am]

Day of Defeat: Source Available September 26
September 9, 2005, 12:20 pm · Chris Bokitch

Day of Defeat®: Source™ (DoD: Source), the latest version of the WWII online action game from Valve®, will be made available to gamers everywhere on September 26.

"Day of Defeat has quietly been one of the most played online action games for the past three years," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. "Day of Defeat: Source represents a major leap forward in both graphics and gameplay, and pushes the Source engine harder than any other Source project. "

DoD: Source takes the classic teamplay of DoD and expands the experience with Source, the engine technology Valve created for Half-Life® 2 and it's next generation of games. With this technology, DoD: Source offers state of the art graphics with optimized versions of popular maps and all new player, weapon and world models, plus support for HDR lighting.

DoD: Source leverages the power of the Source engine by introducing advanced sound technology to provide a more immersive soundscape and integrated physics simulation technology for ragdolls and physically simulated objects throughout each map.

Available via Steam for just $19.95 and in the Counter-Strike: Source retail package, DoD: Source is a rebuild from the ground up of Day of Defeat on the Source engine.

DoD: Source will be available for pre-load and pre-order next week. Those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold Steam offers will receive a request to pre-load the game at this time and will receive access to play the moment the game is made available.

For more information, visit www.steampowered.com

Valve, Day of Defeat and Source are trademarks or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the United States and/or other countries.

I know im looking forward to this, hope the rest of you are. From all my buddies in beta testing, they say the game is far better than the first DOD.

Move Out?!

[12 May 2005|10:00pm]

Hey everyone....I am in need of a little help again. I finally got DoD two days ago and here's what happened today. It was working fine online until:

+++I downloaded Counter Strike to play with my friend. After downloading it, I tried to play online but I "could not contact master game server for list" or whatever.

+++I took down my windows firewall 'cause I thought that was the problem. It still didn't work, so I put it back up.

+++Fine. So I tried playing DoD afterwards and I get this error when I try playing online, "No servers responded to the query."

Now I can't play my DoD online...does anyone know what might be wrong?

sorry for the offtopic but: [09 May 2005|10:49am]

the aim of this messege is just my desire to know your point of view at the fact which to my mind is at least politically incorrect for the country call itselve as a democratic one.
so the fact is: the president of Latvia- Vira Vike Frieberga offended russian veterans by the following statement:
- "Certainly, we shall not overpersuade, we shall not change consciousness of those elderly Russians which on May, 9th will put a "vobla" (it's a dried fish) on the newspaper, to drink vodka and to sing "chastooshkas" (national Russian songs), and also to recollect, how they have heroically won Baltic"

also the fact is that in Latvia it is forbidden for Russian veterans of the World War Two even to put on theirs dress uniform with awards without a special president permission!

another fact is: EVEN in German, the country in where as a result of World War Two fascism was terminated... so as I know even there in the building of the government the piese of wall painted by the Russian soldiers in some kind of a way of graffity still exists... the country in where the bridge situated on an entrance in the city is named in honour of one of the Russian commander... even there in the country which was the enemy #1 for the USSR during the War... even there people understand the price of that battle witch tooked lives of more than 45 millions people!!!

the last fact is: about 15000 Latvian people was sent to Siberia- the northen region of Russia not so far from Alaska.

so the question is: how is it possible to punish veterans who have no connection with the political decisions of that days??? how is it possible to oppress those hwo sheded their blood not for political decisions but for staying alive and for theirs belief???

P.S. sorry for my bad English.
Your comments are expected...

[25 Mar 2005|08:53pm]

Hey! I have another question I need help with....

I finally got my Half Life to work properly on my new computer. Trouble is, I can't seem to get it in sync with my Steam. Here are a few weird problems I encountered:

1. I try to play it online and it says I need to update. It takes me to the internet and after a bit, it says "This version of Half Life is up to date.", but when I try to connect online again, it still says I'm outdated and takes me back to the same page.

2. I tried to "Register a Product I Already Own" on Steam for both Half Life and Day of Defeat with my Half Life CD key. I do that and it seems to work for a second, then it says there's a duplicate CD key and the one I entered is invalid.

if anyone can help out, I thank you in advance.

Hey everyone. I'm in need of some major help here. I just got Half Life 2, and I really wanna play DoD somehow (preferably online). Are there any good websites I could download the latest version of it? (I know I can't get Source) I heard 1.6 is available.

I'd want to play online, but if that doesn't work, does anyone know where I could get some good matching bots?

Thanks and if you can help, you will be my hero(ine). I really love this game and it's the only one I want for now...how's that for obsessed?

Day of Defeat: Source Approaching Beta
February 24, 2005, 12:33 pm · Chris Bokitch

Day of Defeat: Source, Valve's World War II-themed multiplayer action game, is approaching beta and will be available early this spring via Steam. A team-based multiplayer game that cast players in the Axis vs. Allies battles of Western Europe circa 1944, Day of Defeat: Source leverages the power of the Source engine to introduce integrated physics simulation technology, all new audio, updated maps, enhanced effects and more. More information about Day of Defeat: Source will be released in the coming weeks.

All info on Steam Source DOD can be found here. I have played with some of the map makers and when I have time I test maps with them. Just hold tight guys it will be here soon.
